Editorial policy and methods
How the research desk produces, checks and corrects what you read here.
Who writes
Articles are published by the TradeTech Analytics Research Desk. Market reviews are analytical summaries of public data; research articles describe our own back-tests and data work, and name the data, period, costs and limits behind every figure.
Sources
- Exchange and regulator data: NSE, BSE, SEBI, RBI, with market commentary and quotes cross-checked against Moneycontrol.
- Our own research: back-tests run on historical exchange data with the costs stated, a development window, a validation window and a sealed hold-out, with full trade lists on the Strategy Review. Failed ideas are published as prominently as promising ones.
Rules we follow
- Every figure carries its date and source. If a number could not be obtained, we say so instead of estimating it.
- Facts, assumptions and hypotheses are labelled as such.
- No buy or sell calls, price targets, tips or guaranteed returns. Market reviews describe levels, flows, breadth, risks and scenarios; they are not recommendations.
- Back-tested results are hypothetical, are shown after costs and slippage, and say how much of the result depends on assumptions.
- Advertising never influences what we write. Ads appear only on article pages, are labelled by the ad network, and are kept separate from tables and tools.
Corrections
When an error is found we fix it and add a dated note at the top of the page saying what changed. Report errors through the contact page.
